About this website
Roger Ferris + Partners is a design practice that treats every project as a chance to rethink how people live, work and gather. Based in Westport, Connecticut, the firm has built a reputation for thoughtful architecture that feels both precise and effortless, the kind of work that looks striking in photographs yet feels even better when you walk through it in person. Each commission is approached as a unique response to site, brief and client, never as a repeat of something that came before.
The studio’s work is rooted in strong ideas about place. Coastal light, changing seasons, topography and views are studied carefully before a single line is drawn. Homes open themselves to the landscape with controlled transparency, framing water, trees and sky rather than simply looking at them. Urban and suburban projects are planned to bring clarity and calm to dense contexts, carving out protected outdoor rooms and quiet interior cores where daily life can unfold with ease.
Inside, spaces are composed with a calm rigor. Circulation is intuitive, proportions feel deliberate and every opening is placed to catch light at just the right moment. Materials such as concrete, timber, glass and metal are combined in a way that feels refined rather than showy, allowing texture, shadow and craft to carry the architecture. Custom details, from stair profiles to built in millwork, are developed to support the overall concept and give each project its own unmistakable character.
The firm’s portfolio spans private residences, adaptive reuse, cultural spaces and select commercial work, yet a consistent attitude runs through it all. Buildings are designed to work beautifully over time, to age well, and to adapt gracefully as families grow or organizations change. Sustainability and performance are integrated from the beginning, through orientation, envelope design and careful coordination with engineering, so that comfort and efficiency come built into the architectural idea, not added after the fact.
Collaboration is central to how Roger Ferris + Partners works. Clients are invited into a design process that is clear and engaging, using sketches, models and three dimensional studies to test options together. Consultants, builders and fabricators are treated as creative partners, which keeps the path from concept to construction aligned and protects the integrity of the design on site. The result is architecture that feels highly crafted yet relaxed, as if it has always belonged where it stands.
For clients searching for a critically respected architecture firm in Connecticut that can pair bold contemporary thinking with enduring livability, Roger Ferris + Partners offers a body of work that is at once confident, restrained and deeply attuned to the people who inhabit it.
