About this website
Billabong Tribong began as the realization of Gordon Merchant’s vision for the perfect boardshort—a blend of performance, style, and durability that would meet the needs of surfers around the world. With a deep understanding of the surfing lifestyle, Merchant set out to create a boardshort that wasn’t just functional but also embodied the spirit of the sport. The Tribong boardshort quickly became a symbol of Billabong’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and the surf culture that defines the brand. Combining bold design with practical features, the Tribong has evolved into a favorite among surfers, beachgoers, and anyone who values quality, comfort, and style.
The Tribong boardshort stands out with its unique three-panel design, a feature that was groundbreaking at the time of its introduction. This thoughtful construction allowed for increased flexibility, comfort, and durability, making the Tribong a favorite among surfers who need gear that can keep up with their active lifestyle. Over the years, the Tribong has been refined and perfected, but it has always remained true to its roots as a product designed to enhance the surfing experience. Whether riding the waves or enjoying a day at the beach, the Tribong continues to provide the performance and style that has made it a staple in the surf community.
Billabong’s commitment to innovation is evident in every pair of Tribong boardshorts, which are made with advanced materials and designed to withstand the wear and tear that comes with an active, outdoor lifestyle. The boardshorts are crafted with quick-drying fabric, ensuring comfort in and out of the water, and are designed with features like reinforced stitching and secure pockets to keep essentials safe while on the move.
