About this website
Andrew Franz Architect is a studio built on the belief that architecture should feel responsive, generous and enduring. Every project begins with a simple question, how can this place make life better for the people who will live, work or gather there. From that starting point, the team shapes buildings and interiors that feel clear and contemporary yet grounded in a long view of the city, the landscape and the environment.
Spaces are conceived as sequences rather than isolated rooms. Light, views, movement and sound are treated as materials alongside timber, stone and steel. A quiet entry might open to a double height living space filled with daylight. A compact apartment can gain a sense of volume through carefully framed vistas and built in elements that keep clutter out of sight. Roof terraces, gardens and outdoor rooms are woven into projects whenever possible so that nature becomes part of everyday routines instead of an occasional escape.
The practice is equally at home reimagining historic structures and designing new buildings from the ground up. Renovations respect the character of existing fabric while gently adapting it to modern life. New construction is approached with the same care, balancing performance, craft and comfort. In workplaces and cultural spaces, the focus is on clarity and flow, creating environments that support concentration, collaboration and informal encounters.
Sustainability is not treated as a checklist but as an integrated way of working. Orientation, daylight, natural ventilation, envelope performance and material choices are considered early in the design process. The aim is to reduce energy use, increase durability and create healthy interiors without sacrificing elegance. Flexible planning allows spaces to evolve with changing needs, extending the life of each project and reducing the need for future demolition.
Clients are invited into a collaborative design process that feels both rigorous and personal. Conversations, sketches, models and visual studies help translate aspirations into built form. The studio listens closely to how clients live and work, then responds with architecture that feels specific to them rather than generic. Over time, this approach has produced homes that support family life, workplaces that encourage creativity and community spaces that welcome people in.
At Andrew Franz Architect, responsive architecture of timeless beauty is not an abstract slogan. It is the daily practice of crafting buildings and interiors that serve people, strengthen communities and respect the environment. Each project is an opportunity to create a place that feels calm, intelligent and quietly transformative for everyone who passes through it.
